We regularly get asked for cakes to suit 30 or 40, and I thought it was about time a few cakes of a suitable size made their appearance in the Cheese Shed.
This one’s 3-5, maybe 3.6kg. The base is Quicke’s smallest truckle of cheddar, a tangy little number matured for 12 months. On top of that is a lovely hard goats‘ cheese from Woolsery, based in Dorset. Cornish Blue was voted Best English Cheese and Best Blue Cheese just a couple of years ago, so you can gather that it’s really very good. Sitting on the top is the unmistakeable Dorstone. This super-soft and sweet goats’ cheese is covered in ash, giving it an attractive grey-and-white mottled appearance.
Our cake was photographed by top Bovey lensman Bim and decorated by the wondrous Annie. Don’t forget that we only supply the cheese ... so you’ll need a creative person to take on the decorating duties.
